    MANAGEMENT OF EARLY BREAST CANCER
    (2020) CARVALHO, H. A.; STUART, S. R.; MARTA, G. N.; LIM, F.; WAN, B. A.; SILVA, M. F.
This chapter is an overview of the current policies in the management of early breast cancer in Latin America, based on relevant papers published over the last ten years in the literature. We examine the recommendations for breast cancer diagnosis and staging, and treatment for Stage 0 through Stage IIB (T1-2, N0-1) disease. Early stage breast cancer management by the radiation oncologist may be as simple as considering breast conservative surgery followed by irradiation of the whole breast as the standard of care. However, in daily practice, different scenarios of the same disease may represent a challenge, mostly regarding regional lymph node irradiation in the presence of risk factors versus avoiding adjuvant irradiation. Each department should develop guidelines based on a multidisciplinary approach and tailor radiotherapy not only in the indication, but also in the definition of the radiation targets and respective doses. © 2020 by Nova Science Publishers, Inc. Stereotactic radiosurgery in the management of oligodendroglioma
    (2019) MORAES, F. Y.; MARTA, G. N.; MURPHY, E. S.; SUH, J. H.
Stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) has revolutionized local treatment of brain tumors, especially metastases. For oligodendrogliomas, the use of additional treatment modalities such as SRS is considered primary, adjunctive, and salvage therapy. The available limited experience with SRS for oligodendrogliomas indicates that it is safe and effective. For a very select group of patients unfit for surgical resection or with small residual or recurrent lesions, SRS may represent a safe, reasonable treatment option. Reirradiation with SRS at recurrence seems to be safe, but evidence is limited. Given the very limited number of papers on SRS for oligodendrogliomas, this chapter will include all low-grade gliomas (LGGs). © 2019 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

Standard external beam radiation therapy for oligodendroglioma
    (2019) MARTA, G. N.; MORAES, F. Y.; MURPHY, E. S.; SUH, J. H.
Radiation therapy is an established treatment option for patients with low-grade and anaplastic oligodendrogliomas. The chapter will review the current status of external beam radiation therapy for the management of oligodendroglioma patients. Completed and ongoing trials will be reviewed. The recommendations are based on the available evidence. © 2019 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
