DETECTING DISSONANCE IN CLINICAL AND RESEARCH WORKFLOWS FOR TRANSLATIONAL PSYCHIATRIC REGISTRIES
(2012) COFIEL, Luciana; BASSI, Debora; PIETROBON, Ricardo; BRENTANI, Helena
Data capture process is an important step in health care research, but it often receives little attention on research design number of flaws. To the best of our knowledge, no previous studies have developed standards that would allow for the comparison of workflow models of clinical and research activities and the improvement of the data collection process. In the present study we developed workflow models for a translational research study in psychiatry and for the clinic where it was implemented. Models were used for workflow comparison and identification of dissonances between both, qualitative standards and a corresponding taxonomy arose and workflow re-engineering was proposed and implemented.

ELECTRONIC HEALTH RECORDS NEEDS FROM THE PSYCHIATRY POINT OF VIEW: THE RESULT OF A 18 MONTH IMPLEMENTATION EXPERIENCE
(2013) COFIEL, Luciana; RAY, Ryan Kumar; DIAS, Rodrigo; ROEDEL, Priscila Matias; GUTIERREZ, Marco Antonio; BRENTANI, Helena
This case report presents the perceived benefits and limitations for patient care of an electronic health record (EHR) system implemented at a tertiary psychiatric institution. The information collection period began with training of users at the beginning of the implementation until 18 months post-implementation. Perceived benefits were related to administrative aspects and information sharing among the healthcare team. Some specialized psychiatric processes were not supported by the system, which limited the benefits for research and specialized patient care. Functioning as a best practice it is therefore necessary to evaluate the EHR system regarding its capacity to support specific processes of this particular medical specialty.
