Resumo
The present study aimed to analyze the use of a group, treated by Occupational Therapy, as a strategy for the rehabilitation of adults with sequelae resulting from stroke. The group strategy was developed at the Center for Teaching and Research of the University of Sao Paulo - USP from August 2009 to October 2010. This is a qualitative and descriptive study based on the documental analysis of records using thematic analysis. The group was composed of eight members, four women and four men, aged between 32 and 62 years old. Group rehabilitation enabled people to relate with their own difficulties and potentialities, developing individual and group strategies to overcome the difficulties derived from the disability. Self-esteem was upgraded, social relationships were reestablished, functional capacity was improved, and meaningful activities that had been abandoned after the stroke were rescued.
