High-intensity intermittent efforts are applied in most combat sports. Major reasons of fatigue, tiredness, and reduced performance are caused by (1) muscle acidosis, (2) glycogen depletion in the muscle, (3) phosphocreatine depletion in the muscle, (4) dehydration, (5) elevated extracellular K+ concentration, and (6) micronutrient deficiency. The chapter highlights the importance of nutrients and nutritional strategies to minimize fatigue and maximize training adaptations in combat sports. Weight management and loss is a very vital parameter in combat athletes. This topic has been discussed. Finally this review highlighted diverse nutraceutical supplements that can be effectively used in sports performance. © 2019 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
