Abstract: | The purpose of this study was to assess two methods of calibration of Respiratory Inductive Plethysmography (RIP), isovolume (ISOCAL) and qualitative diagnostic calibration (QDC), in two-body positions (sitting and standing). Twenty-three normal subjects (15 females, 8 males) aged 25,4 ± 3,9 (mean ± standard deviation) years were monitored. The results indicated that the calibration factor (K) is significantly different between both calibration methods. The K mean values, and standard deviation, corresponding to ISOCAL and QDC were 2,6 ± 0,8 and 0,7 ± 0,2 for standing position, and 2,0 ± 0,8 and 0,6 ± 0,2 for sitting position, respectively. We obtained K values in ISOCAL calibration compatible to physiological understanding of the body positions applied. |
