She presented with impaired cardiac function during the acute phase (pericarditis and incomplete right bundle-branch block) that resolved favorably after benznidazole therapy. Serological results also became negative, as determined by hemagglutination assays, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays, and immunofluorescence assays. The child was born without sequelae and showed no evidence of congenital Trypanosoma cruzi infection at birth or 24 days later.engopenAccessAcute Chagas diseaseBenznidazolePregnancytransmissionnewbornswomenUneventful benznidazole treatment of acute Chagas disease during pregnancy: a case reportarticleCopyright SOC BRASILEIRA MEDICINA TROPICAL10.1590/0037-8682-0250-2013Tropical Medicine
