DM can occur at any age. In general it is believed that juveniledermatomyositis (JDM), which occurs before age 18, encompass more vasculopathy andless autoantibodies compared to the disease that affects adults. For adults, the peakincidence is close to 50 years of age, there is a female predominance and it is estimatedthat the incidence of DM is close to 9.5 cases per million people. © 2015 by Nova Science Publishers, Inc.
