- Autopercepção de crianças com distúrbio do espectro do autismo e a percepção de fonoaudiólogos sobre suas habilidades de leitura e escrita(2019) CORTEZ, Ana Carolina Martins; FERNANDES, Fernanda Dreux MirandaABSTRACT Purpose this study aimed to investigate the self-perception of children with autism spectrum disorder regarding their reading and writing skills and to compare these with the perceptions of their therapists. Methods Ten children with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder and their respective therapists participated in this study. An individual questionnaire with eight multiple-choice questions was applied orally to both groups. Results The answers presented by the two groups diverged in some questions. Some therapists reported that working on self-perception is a part of the therapeutic planning. Conclusion The results suggest that children with autism spectrum disorder do not always have a realistic self-perception about their reading and writing skills. Researching children's self-perception can be important to enable parents and professionals to help these students to engage in their difficulties.
- Adaptação para o português do teste de habilidades pragmáticas de Shulman(2018) SANTOS, Thaís Helena Ferreira; CORTEZ, Ana Carolina Martins; SAUINI, Gabrielle; NASCIMENTO, Ana Carolina Carvalho do; FERNANDES, Fernanda Dreux MirandaABSTRACT Purpose The purpose of this study was to apply the Test of Pragmatic Skills in Brazilian children with normal development. Methods Participants of this study were 60 children 3:00 to 8:11 years old, equally divided between genders. The examiners had prior contact with the group of children and applied the TOPS – a traditional test that proposes four sets of simple activities, with the common material, applicable in a short period of time – according to the procedure proposed by the author. Results The results showed a large variability in performance, illustrating that the linguistic and pragmatic skills develop according to the age. It was also observed that the subjects performed all the categories of communicative intentions required by Shulman, indicating that it is not the presence or absence of a specific intent that influences the score in this test, but the quality of the answers provided, which evolves with age. Conclusion Thus, we can conclude that the TOPS proved to be an important instrument that allows answers in informal conversation contexts, verifying that the test is effective in assessing the pragmatic skills of typically developing children and can be an important tool to be used in the assessment of communicative intentions in Brazilian children.
