1. What is OPI?

The Centre for Intellectual Production - OPI - System of FMUSP-HC is an environment that gathers an institutional repository in order to store the scientific production of FMUSP-HC and the management of research generated in this repository. The OPI is a project developed at the request of the Directory Board of the USP Library and Documentation Division, with partnership of Direx-LIM - Executive Board of the Medical Research Laboratories HCFMUSP. This project is always growing and generating new information and metrics.

2. What kind of document exists in OPI and what is the period of coverage?

The Centre follows the scientific production of international and national importance of some 25,000 researchers in medicine, since 2012. Contains articles and scientific journals, presentations at events, books and book chapters materials.

3. I have an article that I'd like to include in the OPI, how to proceed?

As the auto deposit is not yet implemented, contact the team at OPI Library by e-mail: suporte@observatorio.fm.usp.br or by Phone: (11) 3061-8607, provided that the document be in compliance to the criteria for inclusion.

4. What are the criteria for inclusion of documents?

They must have at least one author with institutional affiliation USP or HCFMUSP;

Documents must have international (Web of Science and PubMed indexing) or national (indexing SciELO) relevance. The data basis of Scopus and Google Scholar are being evaluated.

5. What software is used?

We used open-source software called DSpace, developed by MIT and HP. It is the most used software in the world to build digital repositories and this can be seen in ROAR and OpenDOAR.

6. What is the position of the OPI about rights of authors and publishers?

When the team of administrators OPI is notified of a breach of copyright or receives a complaint indicating a violation of the rules of the editors, the item involved is removed as soon as possible for further investigation. If the item does not violate any law, the material will be reinstated. To contact us, please send an email: suporte@observatorio.fm.usp.br.

7. If one of the objectives of the OPI is the preservation of institutional memory, what happens to documents protected by copyright?

Documents filed in OPI can be open or closed access it depends on copyright. Documents open access are available for download in full text, the others can be of three types: fully closed; Restricted to IP (Internet Protocol) USP and embargoed, that is, protected for a period determined by the editor, after this period the document is released. For documents with closed access, only the metadata will be displayed. All the classification process is done automatically and reviewed individually, but even so, if you discover an error, please notify us immediately by email suporte@observatorio.fm.usp.br so that the situation is regularized. We recall that the OPI team takes care to not violating the rights of authors and publishers.

8. What kind of researches OPI provides?

The OPI will provide, within the criteria established by its Scientific Committee, the number of publications produced by an individual researcher, a group or an institution of the System. The key scientific production metrics will be gradually included: number of publications; number of citations; impact factor and h-index and the amount of downloads. A closer examination of this production will allow the comparison between institutions, disciplines and similar careers.

9. The OPI will have other kind of documents?

Yes, several studies have been made to insert Educational Objects that will meet the demands of the Interactive Library. Where necessary, new collections can be created according to the criteria of the Scientific Committee of the OPI.
