FORMAÇÃO DOS ACADÊMICOS DE MEDICINA VETERINÁRIA NO PROCESSO DE MORTE E MORRER

Abstract

The expansion of veterinary medical education in Brazil was very fast, requiring closer monitoring and supervision. However, this does not occur simultaneously. Many courses have exchanged names and workloads of the disciplines of veterinary medicine in their curriculum, but in reality there wasn't innovation or change. Inherited deficiencies of an education in technicist perpetuate most of the courses registered in Brazil. Veterinarians graduate without emotional or psychological preparation to face a situation of mourning for their customers. This training is required, because the animals are part of the family, sharing intense emotions where they are inserted. Other health professions also face this problem and thus, the theme is going to be further discussed in a multidisciplinary environment. Unfortunately this work, we found the trail of the subject: death. The trend is to create highly technical guidelines, reflecting situations of dysthanasia even involuntary. We propose here to include preparatory classes for the vet, with emphasis on communication and empathy.

A expansão do ensino superior de medicina veterinária no Brasil foi muito rápida, exigindo maior acompanhamento e fiscalização. Entretanto, isso não ocorreu na mesma velocidade. Muitos cursos trocaram os nomes e as cargas horárias das disciplinas de medicina veterinária em seu currículo, mas na realidade, não houve inovação nem mudança. Carências herdadas de um ensino tecnicista perpetuam na maioria dos cursos registrados no Brasil. Os veterinários se formam sem preparo psicológico ou emocional para enfrentarem uma situação de luto de seus clientes. Este treinamento é necessário, pois os animais fazem parte da família, dividindo intensamente as emoções de onde estiverem inseridos. Outras profissões da saúde também enfrentam esse problema e com isso, o tema passa a ser mais discutido em ambiente multidisciplinar. Infelizmente neste trabalho, verificamos a fuga do assunto: morte. A tendência é a de se criarem diretrizes extremamente técnicas, refletindo situações de distanásia até involuntária. Propomos aqui a inclusão de disciplinas preparatórias para o veterinário, com ênfase na comunicação e na empatia
